

SDI Try Scuba Diving
Course Overview
SDI makes it possible for you to test the waters and try scuba diving in a controlled environment. The SDI Try Scuba Diving course gives you a glimpse of what you can expect to experience in the underwater world as well as what you could expect to learn in the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course. During this experience program, you will go through the basic safety procedures for enjoyable scuba diving under the watchful eye of an active SDI Instructor.
Course prerequisites:
- Minimum age 18, 10 through 17 with parental consent
- Demonstration of safe and adequate swimming skills
What you can expect to learn
You will learn skills such as equalizing your ears, buddy checks, basic buoyancy control, underwater communication, and more. You will also be given an introduction to basic scuba equipment followed by an underwater tour in the local pool or aquatic environment.

- The aquatic environment
- Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air
- Dive equipment selection, assembly, and use
- Basic scuba skills:
- Buoyancy compensator device (BCD) use
- Regulator use

- Reading and understanding data
- Understanding functions of computer
- Use of gauges
- Underwater Communication
- Buddy System
