{"id":6263,"date":"2021-04-12T21:45:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T20:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rebreatherzone.com\/?page_id=6263"},"modified":"2026-01-11T15:20:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T14:20:17","slug":"tdi-cave-decompression-diver","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rebreatherzone.com\/en\/scuba-training\/oc-cave-training\/tdi-cave-decompression-diver\/","title":{"rendered":"TDI Cave Decompression Diver"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3286\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rebreatherzone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/TDI-Logo.png\" alt=\"TDI Cavern Diver\" width=\"200\" height=\"101\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>TDI Cave Decompression Diver<\/h2>\n<p>This course is intended to train divers in decompression strategies and emergency management for cave<br \/>\ndiving.<\/p>\n<h3>Qualifications of Graduates:<\/h3>\n<p>Graduates will be qualified to conduct decompression dives in the cave environment only utilizing 100%<br \/>\noxygen to accelerate decompression provided:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The diving activities approximate those of training<\/li>\n<li>The areas of activities approximate those of training<\/li>\n<li>Environmental conditions approximate those of training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon successful completion of this course, candidates are qualified to enroll in the TDI Decompression<br \/>\nProcedures Course.<\/p>\n<h3>Course prerequisites:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum age 18<\/li>\n<li>TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Student must either be certified as a TDI Full Cave Diver or equivalent, or currently enrolled in a TDI Full<br \/>\nCave Diver course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Course Structure and Duration:<\/h3>\n<p>4 cave dives must be conducted over a minimum of 2 days. If combined with a Full Cave Diver or Stage<br \/>\nCave Diver course, only 2 additional dives must be completed, but a minimum of 4 decompression dives must be<br \/>\nexecuted throughout the entirety of training. Maximum depth is limited to 30m\/100ft. If the student holds a<br \/>\ncertification allowing them to use helium-based gasses, the maximum training depth can be increases to 40m\/130ft<br \/>\nprovided the END remains shallower than 30m\/100ft.<\/p>\n<h3>Equipment:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Each diver must wear full cave diving equipment (backmount doubles or sidemount) with the addition of<br \/>\nthe following:<\/li>\n<li>1 oxygen decompression cylinder clearly labeled \u201cOxygen 6\u201d OR \u201cOxygen 20\u201d on each side of the tank in<br \/>\napproximately 2-inch (5 cm) lettering. The daily analysis sticker, labeled with the date, initials of the diver<br \/>\nwho analyzed the cylinder, fill pressure, and fraction of oxygen to one decimal place, should be placed<br \/>\nwhere the diver can easily read it when performing a gas switch.<\/li>\n<li>1 decompression regulator and SPG which is rated for oxygen service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Required Skill Performance and Graduation Requirements<\/h3>\n<h4>Land Drills<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Analysis and labeling of decompression cylinders as previously described<\/li>\n<li>Dropping decompression cylinders<\/li>\n<li>Retrieving decompression cylinders<\/li>\n<li>Gas switches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Predive Drills<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Properly analyze and label all cylinders.
